OpenLowCodeLabs is an industrial research project that seeks to improve the availability of tools for software development using low-code, open source, or accessible techniques that meet some of the development needs of entities that develop their own software, whether they are end users (e.g., medium-sized and large companies, public administrations) or companies in the IT sector (in this case, both for their products and for deployment to their customers).

To this end, research will be conducted into candidate enabling technologies and low-code tools at both the national and international levels. In addition, testing and validation will be carried out in companies to determine whether the tools under consideration are suitable for resolving the issues raised through the development and implementation of specific pilots, components, and/or connectors.

OpenLowCodeLabs is an intercluster project coordinated by GAIA (Association of Electronic and Information Technology Industries of the Basque Country). Other entities are also participating, such as the Asturias ICT Cluster and AEI Galicia Digital, which will contribute their experience in innovation projects in the technology sector.

OpenLowCodeLabs also includes companies such as Igarle (with 30 years of experience in consulting and software development), Devol RPA (a technology startup that develops customized and packaged solutions in the field of Low Code), Imatia Innovation (created in 2005 with software services that help companies and administrations around the world improve their productivity), Irontec (Basque IT engineering company specializing in the design, development, and deployment of Free Software solutions), Iametza Interaktiboa (company specializing in customized implementations of Information and Communication Technologies), and Q2TEC (startup created with the purpose of helping organizations transform digitally).

Open LowCodeLabs is funded by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism through the 2024 Call for Innovative Business Groups, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan.
